March 21, 2025 by Evan-Scott Morris

As the winter thaw gives way to the vibrant blooms of spring, it’s the perfect time to refresh and rejuvenate your workspace. It’s the ideal time to breathe new life into our workplaces, transforming them into vibrant, clean, and organized spaces. Corvus Janitorial Systems, renowned for its commitment to excellence in cleaning services, brings you a comprehensive guide to spring cleaning guide for 2025. This guide is designed to help you thoroughly refresh your environment, from decluttering and deep cleaning to adopting eco-friendly practices. Dive into our expert tips and make this spring-cleaning season the most effective yet, ensuring your space not only looks pristine but also promotes a healthier, more productive environment.

The Essence of Spring Cleaning

Spring cleaning is a tradition rooted in the desire for a clean and orderly environment, symbolizing a fresh start. It’s a chance to eliminate the clutter and dirt that have accumulated over the year, especially in the hidden corners that often get overlooked during routine cleaning. For businesses, it’s an opportunity to present a welcoming and professional face to the world, enhancing customer and employee satisfaction. The benefits of spring cleaning are manifold, including improved air quality, increased productivity, and a sense of well-being and calm.

Step-by-Step Guide to a Thorough Spring Clean

1. Create a Customized Cleaning Plan

Start with a comprehensive plan tailored to your specific needs. Inventory the areas of your home or business that require attention, and list tasks for each room or section. Prioritizing tasks ensures that you focus on areas that require the most work or are critical for your day-to-day operations.

2. Declutter Before You Clean

A clutter-free environment is easier to clean and maintain. Sort through belongings, paperwork, and inventory, deciding what to keep, donate, or discard. This not only simplifies the cleaning process but also contributes to a more organized and efficient space.

3. Focus on Deep Cleaning for Health

Spring cleaning is an excellent time to focus on areas that affect the health of your environment. This includes deep cleaning carpets, upholstery, and air ducts to remove allergens and dust mites. Pay special attention to sanitizing surfaces in kitchens, bathrooms, and other high-traffic areas to minimize the spread of germs and bacteria.

4. Tackle Overlooked Areas for a Comprehensive Clean

Don’t forget about the places that are easy to overlook during regular cleaning. This includes the tops of cabinets, light fixtures, baseboards, and behind appliances. Cleaning these areas not only contributes to the overall cleanliness of your space but also helps in preventing the accumulation of dust and pests.

5. Invest in Professional Cleaning for Optimal Results

Certain tasks, such as window cleaning, carpet and upholstery cleaning, and high-dusting, can be challenging and time-consuming. Corvus Janitorial Systems offers a range of professional cleaning services that can help you achieve the best results. Our trained professionals use the latest techniques and eco-friendly products to ensure your space is not only clean but also safe and healthy.

6. Implement Eco-Friendly Cleaning Practices

Choosing eco-friendly cleaning products and methods is good for the environment and for the health of those who occupy your space. Corvus Janitorial Systems prioritizes sustainable practices, using green cleaning solutions that are effective and reduce the impact on the planet.

7. Schedule Regular Maintenance Post-Spring Cleaning

Once your spring cleaning is complete, maintaining the cleanliness and organization of your space is crucial. Consider setting up a regular cleaning schedule with Corvus Janitorial Systems to ensure your environment remains inviting, clean, and healthy year-round.

Ms. Torres has been a dedicated Franchise Owner with Corvus of Little Rock since 2013—what an incredible achievement! Over the years, she has been named Franchisee of the Month for Little Rock twice, first in January 2020 and again in June 2024.

A Commitment to Excellence

Shayna Hula of Corvus of Little Rock praises Ms. Torres for her tireless work ethic and the pride she takes in servicing her accounts. “She is a hard worker and takes pride in cleaning her accounts. All of her accounts love her cleaning. One customer even signed an increase because she was the best they’ve ever had and he couldn’t lose her,” Hula shares.

Ms. Torres’s dedication extends beyond her own business; she has generously helped other franchise owners by training them and even translating for them. She’s become well known for her signature toilet-cleaning motto: “Scrub the toilets until they bubble.”

The Franchise Owner Spotlight of the month for July is a motivated young man named Aveon Frierson. Mr. Frierson opened his business with Corvus of Little Rock in April of 2021. He is in his early twenties, and he operates his business on top of working another full-time job.

Mr. Frierson has the capacity to take on larger accounts and has been steadily growing his monthly revenue. In the 2023 Franchisee Survey, he said that the thing that kept him most motivated in his business was “customer satisfaction.”

That motivational outlook is paying off. “It is rare to ever have a complaint from a customer about him,” reports Trey Kimbrell, Regional Director of Corvus of Little Rock. “He is just on top of it. Aveon is highly respected, and it goes both ways. He goes above and beyond to take care of his accounts and customers.” Mr. Kimbrell says that Mr. Frierson makes himself available for Corvus’ needs as well. “He’s always prepared and he’s always available to swing by the office when we need him.”

Partnering with such a motivated and driven businessman has been an honor for Corvus. We are excited to see what the future holds for him and are proud to be a part of it. Thank you for all you do, Mr. Frierson!

As a Franchise Owner for the last ten years, Ms. Sherry Gallon of Corvus of Little Rock works full-time in her business and is still expanding and taking on new accounts. Her motivation to run her own business started with wanting to have the freedom to spend more time with her kids and grandkids, which she now has the flexibility to do.

The biggest focus Sherry has in her business is building relationships with her customers and making sure they are happy with her service. If Ms. Gallon has any concerns from customers, she always tries to meet them in person to have direct communication and address the issues quickly. While she prioritizes meeting with the customer or Corvus in person as much as possible, Sherry likes to reserve Friday’s for her grandkids.

Ms. Shayna Hula, Regional Director of Corvus of Little Rock, says Ms. Gallon “is a hard worker with a positive attitude and always has a smile on her face.” It’s clear that Ms. Gallon takes pride in the work she does and takes ownership of her business. Franchisee Spotlight – Tara Amuimuia, Corvus of Little Rock

July 23, 2021 by Evan Morris

July’s Franchisee Spotlight Series features Corvus of Little Rock Franchise Owner Tara Amuimuia. Read on to learn more about the standout Franchisee who goes above and beyond to Make Lives Better!

To keep up with the Franchisee Spotlight Series and all things Corvus, follow us on Instagram! @corvus_janitorial_franchising

Corvus of Little Rock Franchise Owner Tara Amuimuia opened her Corvus Franchise in September 2019. After hearing about Corvus through a Franchise Owner who cleaned the criminal justice facility she was working at during the time, Mrs. Amuimuia inquired about franchising opportunities herself. In just six months, the standout Franchisee left this job to operate her Corvus Franchise full-time.

Mrs. Amuimuia’s friendly personality and strong communication skills certainly contribute to her quick success. Every month, she emails her customers to check-in and see if they are satisfied with their cleaning services. “Her main goal is to do a great job and please the customer,” says Director of Operations Shayna Hula.

An example of a time Mrs. Amuimuia went above and beyond to ensure her customers were happy occurred after making a mistake. She received a complaint from a customer, and after going back to the account to check her work, she realized that she had been distracted and missed some things. Mrs. Amuimuia cleaned more than she was required to and left a hand-written note apologizing to the customer to make up for this. With a positive attitude and work ethic like this, it is no wonder why customers speak so highly of her!

When Mrs. Amuimuia is not busy running her cleaning franchise, you will likely find her cooking Italian and Asian fusion, hanging out at the beach, or spending time with her two sons.

Thank you, Mrs. Amuimuia, for being such an outstanding partner to Corvus. We are so grateful for all that you do and look forward to watching your continued success!

Corvus Janitorial Systems Commercial Cleaning Customer Reviews

January 11, 2021 by Evan Morris

Reviews from Corvus Janitorial Customers:

Corvus of Charlotte:

“We started working with Corvus in July 2015 and to date, have had a great experience with them. They had some local management changes a couple of years ago and that went well with no change in service (which can happen!). When we ask for something, the response is quick and efficient. We had a COVID-19 potential exposure in our office and they were able to come out the next day and do a thorough sanitizing of our office suite. All of their folks have been great but Jodean climbs to the top of the list – she is there for us! We thank you, Corvus!”

Corvus of Chicago:

“Corvus has been servicing our Elk Grove facility for over a year and we are pleased with the quality of service and their communication. Regular visits from a local Manager are a welcome addition and provide a platform for us to submit specific feedback regarding the scheduled service, special requests and explore additional services that we may require.”

Corvus of Cincinnati:

“Very detail oriented. I requested specific things. The first time the crew came they missed something. I made a phone call to Christine one time and they went above and beyond my expectations. Fantastic crew!!!”

Corvus of Columbus:

“It takes the hard work out of finding good help. Great communication, excellent value and good people to work with.”

Corvus of Denver:

“This company has been great to work with. They went above and beyond when we needed them the most during COVID. Michael and his team are very responsive and accommodating. I highly recommend them for your cleaning and sanitizing needs.”

Corvus of Indianapolis:

“Corvus has been a phenomenal resource for my business! The team is responsive, timely and professional. Their team of professionals check in consistently to make sure that the work performed is up to standard. Highly recommended!”

Corvus of Jacksonville:

“I have worked in child care for years, never satisfied with any of our janitorial companies until now. Charles is amazing at what he does and very responsive. They provide a log book for daily communication and quarterly evaluations, asking us what they can improve on. Spencer, the supervisor, is very easy to speak with and always checking in. Not only do they provide great cleaning services, they are now offering electrostatic disinfecting – which we did today in our classrooms. I am very satisfied with Corvus services and would recommend them to anyone!”

Corvus of Lexington:

“The company I work for has used Corvus for a number of years and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From the team on the ground to management, we were taken care of on every aspect. If there was ever a question or an extra request, the team was always accommodating.”

Corvus of Little Rock:

“Top notch service. Shayna and Jennifer are great. You can count on them to always follow up to ensure that you are pleased with the service. Had a couple of “emergency” cleans come up over the last couple of years and they have always gone out of their way to cover my poor planning and made me come out looking like a star when visitors arrived.. Would recommend to anyone. A+++”

Corvus of Louisville:

“So glad to know David Villafana and Corvus! They use green products, well trained employees, and methodical cleaning.”

Corvus of Nashville:

“Switched over to Corvus at our site several months ago. Their service and attention to detail has been great. 10/10 would recommend.”

Corvus of New Orleans:

“Corvus has provided us excellent services in day to day general cleaning and floor care for nearly 10 years. Any issues are addressed immediately and handled with urgency and customer satisfaction in mind.”

Corvus of Northwest Arkansas:

“Corvus Janitorial provides excellent service! It is hard to find a cleaning company that is honest, professional, AND does a good job! I would highly recommend Corvus Janitorial for anyone needing a top notch cleaning company for their business, small or large.”

Corvus of Orlando:

“Corvus does a great job! John and Vivian are super professional and provide outstanding service! Our office is always in great condition, they are very easy to communicate with and to get in touch with when needed. We highly recommend using Corvus to any business!”

Corvus of Raleigh-Durham:

“I’ve had my franchise for almost 3 years now and I really can’t complain about anything that has happened within. Everything and everyone is straightforward and willing to help. Plenty of opportunity to grow your franchise. The main thing I like is how easy it is to contact the partners at the office or corporate and how knowledgeable they are when it comes to different types of problems that may occur! Thank You!!!”

Corvus of St. Louis:

“Zion Lutheran School has been with Corvus since 2000. I love the communication we have with Corvus. They are so responsive to our cleaning needs at school. It is nice to have cleaning issues taken care of, and not have to deal with that during a busy school year. Corvus has been a great partner in our school growth.”

CEO Shares Home Cleaning and Disinfecting Tips

July 29, 2020 by Evan Morris

Good Morning Arkansas

Interview with Corvus Janitorial CEO Justin Douglas

Corvus Janitorial Systems’ founder and co-CEO, Justin Douglas, sat down with KATV ABC7: Good Morning Arkansas’ Alyson Courtney to discuss cleaning and disinfecting your home during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This interview aired on April 13, 2020.

Reporter:

Well, now more than ever cleaning services and cleaning thoroughly are vital. Cleaning expert Justin Douglas has been in the cleaning and janitorial business for more than 20 years and has some helpful tips to keep you from making some cleaning mistakes.

Courtney:

Justin, yes you guys are vitally important. The janitorial services that we just kind of took for granted for a long time. Really now, at the forefront of this pandemic, we need those cleaning services now more than ever. For people at home, what are some of the things that we need to keep in mind as we’re trying to clean our own homes?

Douglas:

Well, I think one of the big things that people need to be aware of is their schedule, what they’re cleaning, how often, and being aware of those high touchpoints. That’s where the germs and the disinfecting, of course, need to take place because everyone in your home is handling those items and objects.

Courtney:

There’re some mistakes out there that I’m sure that you notice as a professional in this business that a lot of us at home are making. Talk about some of those big mistakes.

Douglas:

Yeah, I think the biggest mistake that people are making has to do with the chemicals as well as the application of them. So, you want to clean a surface, but then you need to disinfect it. And when you’re doing that, you need to let the chemical dwell to have enough time to kill whatever it needs to kill–in this case, it’s a virus or bacteria. So, that two-step process is critical.

The other thing that I think people are making mistakes about is re-infecting areas that are clean. So, the frequency of cleaning those surfaces, how you’re cleaning them, again just being mindful of the fact that you may clean something in the morning, but it may need to be hit again in the afternoon and the evening as many times as possible. You know, avoiding re-infecting areas.

Courtney:

The dirtiest parts of our homes might not necessarily be where we think they are.

Douglas:

That’s right. I mean, what people have typically thought about cleaning–vacuuming the floors, trash–that, of course, is also still important, but you know, it’s become very different now.

I think that appliances are probably the dirtiest places in the house. And specifically, washing machines, dryers, and quite frankly, your trash bin because that’s where soiled materials are going to go. It’s just not a part of our regular routine so we’re reminding people that of course, you’re hitting the appliances as we said, but anywhere that soiled materials–rags, cloths, paper towels– that you’ve used to clean are going now needs to be cleaned too.

Courtney:

Let’s talk about the products that we use to clean and disinfect our homes. It’s been hard to find some of those products lately because everyone has gone out to get the Lysol and the disinfecting wipes. What should we be using and what should we use if we can’t necessarily find what we would typically like to use?

Douglas:

Yeah, so I think the supply chain is catching up. But certainly, people went out and bought in bulk and that’s understandable. In terms of a disinfectant, you want to be using an EPA certified disinfectant. The CDC is a great resource for people out there, and they have a list of all of these types of cleaning chemicals that you can use.

You know, in the event that you can’t get something at the store, there are home remedies. I think the thing that your viewers should be very careful about is mixing those home remedies, just as a disclaimer. But bleach is a disinfectant that you can use that the CDC is recommending and you need to dilute it with water correctly. And so is hydrogen peroxide.

Then, there are some more basic remedies, but I don’t think that they’re ideal for this sort of pandemic. White vinegar, for instance, has some disinfecting properties, but EPA certified disinfectant followed by bleach and hydrogen peroxide.

Courtney:

Let’s talk about disinfecting things that we bring into our homes. First off, we have our shoes on. Should we be leaving those outside? Then, as we bring in mail, packages, groceries, should we specifically be disinfecting each of those items?

Douglas:

Yes. And, I think that’s where people break down in terms of their vigilance, if you will. When groceries arrive, when packages come, I mean, frankly, it’s almost the only interaction we’re having with the outside world right now and I think people get excited. But the delivery people who are just as critical, I think, as janitors right now are out in the world and not social distancing.

So, what I think is really important is to set up almost a manufacturing line in your home. If you get home and you get packages, if you can leave them outside for a period of time, put them in your garage, put them somewhere safe. Quarantine those packages, quite frankly, for a period of time and then once that’s elapsed go out and disinfect it with a Lysol or a disinfectant. Then, also, get rid of the packaging that whatever you’ve ordered has come in. Or, if in the case of groceries, if you can take your strawberries from one of those plastic containers and put them into clean Tupperware, that’s what you really need to be doing. So, it’s the chemical, but it’s also the awareness about [the] order of operations for bringing outside objects into your home.

Courtney:

And Justin, are you guys still working as much and how does someone know when they do need a professional to come in?

Douglas:

We are an office cleaning company. Because so many of our customers are now quarantined and sheltering in place, we’re trying to provide home cleaning tips. You know, I think it’s a tricky situation that we’re in, obviously, that’s an understatement. But, for the time being, being aware of who is in your home and who’s not is probably the best and first line of defense. Therefore, if you can do your own cleaning at home, that’s probably the right thing to do. And you know, we’ve all got a lot of people at home these days, so you want to press your family into service and make it a team sport.

Courtney:

Justin, thanks so much for your time. I know you guys are certainly teaching us a lot as we learn to do it ourselves at home and make sure we’re doing it correctly. We appreciate you.

Douglas:

Thank you, it’s a pleasure.

Corvus Franchise Owners Are Proud to Serve Essential Businesses

May 21, 2020 by Evan Morris

We are all living through uncertain and unprecedented times. Corvus Janitorial franchise owners are stepping up to the challenges facing our nation. While many businesses have gone into lockdown, essential service providers have remained open. They have faced the coronavirus pandemic head-on. Essential workers are continuing to provide goods and services to the general population, and they do this despite often putting themselves at a greater risk of infection. From food distributors to medical facilities, manufacturers to law enforcement, Corvus wants to thank essential workers. We are proud to service essential businesses and the employees that keep them running. We are proud to support those that are keeping their doors open for the good of the public.

Individuals and businesses have had to make radical changes in their everyday lives. This is particularly true for essential businesses, and they’ve had to adapt their practices in response to the novel coronavirus outbreak. Keeping employees safe and healthy has always been important, but never before has the issue been so front-of-mind and clear. In this volatile time, businesses are rapidly updating their standards and procedures. Cleaning regimens have seen more attention than most other areas. We support these businesses and their efforts to ensure a safe, sanitary workplace. As such, we’ve done what we can to make it easier for them. Corvus franchise owners have been accommodating changes in the scope of their services. This flexibility helps us provide high-level, unapparelled services.

In labor-intensive, high-volume essential industries like manufacturing, updates are necessary. A growing number of Corvus customers are requesting changes. Increases in the frequency of cleaning services have been a common request. Enhanced disinfection programs and day porting services are also in demand. We’re proud of what our Franchisees have been doing to help the state of the nation. So, we want to highlight some of the stories we’ve encountered over the last few weeks.

Chicago Corvus Franchisee, Marquette Dewitt, exemplifies our high standard of customer care. He has cleaned for Packaging Corporation of America for the last three years. Marquette and his team have expanded beyond their regular, after-hours cleaning services. They have begun day porting at the facility for four hours each day. Included in the expanded scope of service is routine, comprehensive disinfection. “With all that’s been going on with coronavirus, I am grateful to be able to provide these businesses – and their employees – with peace of mind. Being able to do my part to help essential businesses operate smoothly and safely is a great feeling, and I’m proud to be their partner,” Marquette reflects.

Medical facilities are in particular need of extensive cleaning and disinfecting programs. Medical professionals are right on the front lines. They are combatting COVID-19 and saving lives each day. Alere Toxicology Services is an excellent example of an essential medical business. Pre-coronavirus, this company provided substance abuse testing (and continues to do so). But now, they have been administering COVID-19 tests in the New Orleans metro area, as well. Due to the nature of this work, they have altered their procedures to keep their clients safe. Franchise owner, Keelee Menina, and her crew have increased cleaning and disinfecting to three times per day. Ms. Menina says, “It has been humbling and inspiring to see the work they are doing to help our community. Our region got hit very hard initially, and businesses like Alere are saving lives. I’m just glad that my team and I can support their efforts”.

The Arkansas Regional Organ Recovery Agency (ARORA) is another important company. ARORA collaborates with hospitals to facilitate organ and tissue donations. Corvus franchise owners service ARORA’s facilities in Little Rock and Northwest Arkansas. In a letter to local Corvus management, they’ve reminded us that what we do is so important. ARORA’s Executive Director writes, “I wanted to share my appreciation to Corvus for the outstanding work done by the cleaning team at our office… Thank you for your employee’s dedication to keeping our office clean and sanitized”. It is our pleasure; thank you, ARORA, for all that you do in our communities!

Protecting the most vulnerable members of our society is more important than ever. This has been a major emphasis during the pandemic. The elderly are at particularly high risk for serious complications from SARS-CoV-2. Statistics from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) highlight the severity of this risk. “Eight of 10 deaths reported in the U.S. have been in adults 65 years or older; risk of death is highest among those 85 years or older”. Elderly individuals in nursing homes and long-term care facilities are at the highest risk.

The communal nature of these facilities can act as a breeding ground for the virus. Data collected by the New York Times reveals that approximately 11% of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the United States have occurred in long-term care facilities. However, these facilities account for over one-third of case fatalities. It is critical that this demographic receives an even greater level of care and caution. This is true for the essential individuals who serve them, as well.

Corvus is proud to service organizations and facilities that care for elderly populations. These essential businesses provide care, medical supplies, and aid to senior citizens. Corvus of Orlando Franchisees, Julio Santos and Castillo Padilla, provide cleaning and disinfecting services to Seniors First and Kissimmee Outpatient. Seniors First facilitates local Meals on Wheels and similar programs in the area. Kissimmee Outpatient provides urgent care in the community. They have also been providing local COVID-19 testing. “The team [at Seniors First] has done so much good for the Orlando senior community over the years, and it has been really inspiring to see them step up in these difficult times. It’s an honor to be their partner – now more than ever,” Santos states.

Tarita Ivy, a Corvus of Indianapolis Franchisee, recently began performing services at HomeMed Pharmacy. HomeMed delivers essential pharmaceutical products and prescriptions to high-risk patients. “I was excited to take on the HomeMed account at the beginning of May. They are keeping vulnerable patients safe, and I’m glad to have the opportunity to contribute to their efforts”.

Corvus Janitorial Franchisees care about the communities that they serve. This has never been more clear. As this crisis evolves, we will continue to serve our communities in any way we can. Increased awareness, cleaning, and disinfecting can make all the difference. We’ll get through this together and we’ll come out stronger on the other side. If you’re ready to serve your community and take control of your career, this is the job for you, too. Contact us today to learn about business ownership with Corvus Janitorial Systems.

Home Cleaning and Disinfecting: 6 Overlooked Touchpoints

April 6, 2020 by Evan Morris

As a result of the rapid and unsettling spread of COVID-19, Corvus Janitorial Systems – a national franchisor of office and workplace cleaning services – will be making an effort to pivot towards providing tips and best practices on how to ensure a safe, clean and sanitized home office area. Because so many Americans are working from home, obeying shelter-in-place requirements, all while doing their best to make America run, we aim to repurpose office and workspace cleaning and disinfecting tips to use in home offices and general home cleaning purposes.

In this post, we highlight often overlooked but critical TOUCHPOINTS that families and home office workers should ensure become a part of their cleaning regimes. Corvus of Little Rock and Northwest Arkansas teammate Justin Simmering shared his own insights on keeping the home office clean in this short video.

1. Refrigerator Doors

Now that we are all quarantined at home, we’re eating our meals at home, snacking and generally putting our hands on the home refrigerator far more than ever before. And yet how often do we wipe down and disinfect the refrigerator door handle? Stationing disinfecting wipes or some other visual queue by the refrigerator door handle is a great and effective way to remind yourself and members of your family to disinfect and clean frequently handled doors and handles.

2. Dumpster Handles or Trash Cans

You’ve done a great job disinfecting and cleaning the indoor parts of your home and the high touchpoints, but when we step outside do we get complacent or find a false sense of security? Essential services like trash collection are still operating, and every time your trash collector picks up or handles your refuse, he or she might be leaving germs or worse behind. Make a habit of disinfecting and sanitizing the lids and handles of trash bins.

3. Car Door Handles and Steering Wheel

This is an often-overlooked touchpoint; however, it is a critical one to address during the coronavirus pandemic. Whether you are under state, county, or city-mandated shelter-in-place or stay-at-home orders, or simply practicing your own social distancing measures, individuals and families still need essential items that require a ride in the car. High traffic locations such as grocery stores and gas stations can potentially carry the virus. Because of this, it is imperative to clean and disinfect your car door handles as well as your steering wheel. Doing so can help prevent the virus from entering your household from outside sources and keep your family safe.

4. Remotes, Gadgets, Chargers, and Toys

With a majority of Americans staying home, devices are being used at a rate never seen before. From binge-watching Netflix to tuning into daily state and national briefings to video chatting with friends and coworkers on our cellphones, we are more attached to our electronics and toys than ever before. Due to this, keeping frequently touched items in our homes germ-free is more important than ever. Make it part of your daily cleaning routine to wipe down and disinfect any TV remotes, game console controllers, chargers, cellphones, children’s toys, and any other devices or objects that are being frequently handled in the home.

5. Light Switches, Keys Doorknobs, and Door Handles

These specific touchpoints are unavoidable in daily life at home. Therefore, they require cleaning and disinfecting on a consistent and frequent cadence. If you can, avoid directly touching these surfaces. Use a sleeve, a napkin, or another method to create a barrier between your skin and the touchpoint you are interacting with. Even if all direct skin contact can be avoided, you should still frequently clean and disinfect these touchpoints as a precautionary action.

6. Computers, Keyboards, and Mouse

With many people working from home, either for their job or for school, home desktops and laptops are critical to the continued productivity of our society during this prolonged period of shelter-in-place. With that said, make sure that you are routinely wiping down and disinfecting your keyboard, mouse, and computer screen.

Disinfecting and Cleaning Protocols

It is important to highlight the difference between general cleaning and disinfecting. During a general clean the intent is to remove dirt and dust. This step must be completed before disinfection because germs can lurk in grime and soiled areas. Once an area is clean, it can then be disinfected. Typically, disinfecting happens only in restrooms and dining areas, but with COVID-19, disinfection of all areas using EPA approved commercial-grade chemicals is a critical factor in helping to curb the spread of the virus in our communities. The EPA recently released List N: Disinfectants for Use Against SARS-CoV-2, which can be found here.

This is by no means an exhaustive list of all the critical touchpoints in your home. However, we believe it is a good starting point for individuals and families looking to ensure their homes are clean and safe during the novel coronavirus pandemic. Janitorial Franchise Advantages: A Stable Industry with Opportunities

March 19, 2019 by Evan Morris

Cleaning services industry outlook

Janitors are a mainstay of American business operations, and for good reason. We all know the importance of having a janitor to ensure a sanitary and tolerable workplace. Because of this, the demand for janitorial services continues to be high. In 2018, the revenue of janitorial services in the U.S. reached 61 billion U.S. dollars. Job growth is also expected to rise by 10% in the next ten years. The median hourly wage for janitors and building cleaners was $12.02 in May 2017 and $24,998 per year. The industry has high levels of competition due to the many small cleaning companies in operation. Janitorial franchising in the cleaning industry offers unique advantages and opportunities for franchisees to leap frog these small companies for competitive contracts.

Franchises offer opportunity

In a competitive market, such as the market for cleaning services, association with a recognizable and respected brand can improve contract prospect acquisition drastically. This is where janitorial franchises offer the most advantage, and is what we provide at Corvus with our national footprint. We are a brand with over ten years of experience servicing clients, marketing, and sales. When you buy a franchise from Corvus, you are not only becoming an owner of a janitorial company. You are also gaining a network of experienced colleagues. They will provide you with client prospecting, sales and marketing that cannot be matched by a solo venture into the industry. At Corvus, we like to say that our franchisees are “on their own, but not alone”. Our franchisees know that if they ever need assistance, advice, or have any questions or concerns, Corvus’ leadership will be there in any way that we can.

A word from our Franchisees

“I would say the best thing about my experience owning a Corvus franchise is the flexibility I have to run my business the way I think is best to achieve my personal goals.”
-Annika,Corvus Cincinnati

“I never thought I would be able to own my own business. Now, I am able to spend time with my two sons while still providing them with everything they need!”
-Tamara, Corvus Raleigh-Durham

“I was fed up with working for the man, but there was no way I had the money to start my own business from scratch. Then, I discovered Corvus. I no longer work for the man and I couldn’t be happier.”
-Michael, Corvus Little Rock
