“Mr. Ross is super dependable and a stand-up guy,” says Spencer Sandell, Regional Director of Corvus of Jacksonville. “He never misses a clean, and we have never received a complaint about him. He operates as a solo artist and has deliberately kept his business small, but he runs a tight ship.”

Mr. Ross is eager to please and does an excellent job cleaning. When reviewing his customer QCs, it is not uncommon to read things like, “he is the best.” Inspections often note that the buildings he cleans are spotless, and customers are incredibly satisfied with the service.

How Franchising Reduces Risks for Entrepreneurs

July 14, 2023 by Evan-Scott Morris

Starting a business from scratch can be a daunting task for any entrepreneur. It requires a significant investment of time, effort, and resources. However, there is a business model that can significantly reduce these risks: franchising.

Franchising is a business model in which a company (the franchisor) licenses its brand, products, and services to a third party (the franchisee) in exchange for an initial fee and ongoing royalties. The franchisee operates a business under the franchisor’s brand and receives support, training, and marketing assistance from the franchisor.

Whether you’re serious about starting your own business or are merely interested in learning more about what entrepreneurship entails, here are five reasons why franchising might be right for you.

1. Established Brand Recognition

One of the greatest advantages of franchising is the established brand recognition. Franchisees benefit from the franchisor’s reputation and credibility, which can take many years for entrepreneurs to build. Customers are more likely to trust a business that they recognize and are familiar with. As a result, franchisees can start their businesses with a built-in customer base, which reduces the time and effort required to establish a brand and attract customers.

2. Proven Business Model

Building a business model is no easy feat. From identifying your target audience to choosing a cost structure, it is an ongoing process that requires continuous evaluation and refinement to ensure that your business stays relevant and profitable. Not only do franchisees get to skip this step altogether, they will often receive comprehensive training covering all aspects of the business. The franchisor’s expertise and guidance can significantly reduce the risks associated with starting a new business.

3. Economies of Scale

Franchisees benefit from the economies of scale that come with being part of a larger organization. For example, they can purchase supplies, equipment, and inventory at lower prices than if they were operating as an independent business. As well, franchisors have entire teams whose job is to implement marketing efforts like direct mail flyers, ad placements and social media promotion (just to name a few). Benefiting from the franchisor’s marketing campaigns can be much more effective and cost-efficient than doing so on your own.

4. Support and Training

When it comes to business, challenges are inevitable, especially when first starting out. A side of entrepreneurship that seems to go unspoken about is just how lonely and isolating it can really be. So many aspects go into running a business that you might not be aware of until a situation or problem arises. Rather than bearing the burden alone, franchisees receive ongoing support and training from the franchisor, which can help them overcome challenges and grow their businesses. Going the franchise route also means gaining access to a network of other franchisees who can provide useful guidance and advice.

5. Reduced Risk of Failure

According to an article published by Forbes, the success rate of franchised businesses is significantly higher than that of independent businesses. As noted above, franchisees benefit from the franchisor’s experience, expertise, and support, which can reduce the risk of failure. While success is never certain, franchising does offer a greater sense of security and stability that can be attractive to entrepreneurs.

The Fourth of July & How it Relates to Entrepreneurship

July 2, 2023 by Evan-Scott Morris

Patriotic parades, colorful fireworks, and mouth-watering barbecues – you know what that means! The Fourth of July, also known as Independence Day, is just around the corner. Every year since 1776, Americans from the north, south, east and west have honored the birth of our great nation. And while America’s birthday is as good an excuse as any for friends and family to come together and celebrate, it’s worthwhile to pause and reflect on the significance of this holiday.

The Significance of the Fourth of July

At its core, the Fourth of July represents freedom – the personal freedom to express ourselves, pursue happiness, and shape the course of our own lives. It’s a reminder that we live in a land where dreams can become a reality, where opportunities abound for those who dare to dream and work hard. Without freedom, there would be no chance for independence and security.

Entrepreneurship: A Reflection of American Values

Freedom, independence, security – in many ways, entrepreneurship embodies these very fundamental values. At Corvus, we pride ourselves on allowing Franchise Owners to “be their own boss.” Being able to control their work schedule and determine their income directly represents the American Dream – the idea that anyone can achieve success and happiness through hard work.

The Role of Entrepreneurs in Shaping Independence and Security

Though it is often accompanied by significant risk, entrepreneurship has the potential to offer a level of financial stability and autonomy only sometimes available in traditional jobs. Though success is never guaranteed, in the 20-plus years Corvus has been operating, we have witnessed countless entrepreneurs meet their financial goals and achieve security. Successful entrepreneurs will often scale their businesses to create jobs and hire more employees. These businesses provide not just personal and financial stability, but also create opportunities for others.

As we celebrate the Fourth of July, let us recognize and appreciate the invaluable role of entrepreneurs in shaping our great nation. Through their pursuit of independence, entrepreneurs break free from barriers and constraints, embracing the freedom to build their own path. They embody the spirit of self-reliance and the belief in personal agency that, after all, is at the core of our nation’s independence.

Mr. Frierson has the capacity to take on larger accounts and has been steadily growing his monthly revenue. In the 2023 Franchisee Survey, he said that the thing that kept him most motivated in his business was “customer satisfaction.”

Aveon is highly respected, and it goes both ways. He goes above and beyond to take care of his accounts and customers.” Mr. Kimbrell says that Mr. Frierson makes himself available for Corvus’ needs as well. “He’s always prepared and he’s always available to swing by the office when we need him.”

8 Tips for Sourcing Commercial Cleaning Products and Supplies

May 19, 2023 by Evan-Scott Morris

As the owner of a commercial cleaning franchise, sourcing the right products and supplies is an essential part of the job. Taking the time to carefully research and select the right ones can help ensure your business is clean, safe, and welcoming for customers and employees alike. But where to start, you might ask? Read on for five Corvus-approved tips to help you make the best choices for your business:

1. Identify Your Cleaning Needs

Before you begin shopping, take the time to identify the types of cleaning products and supplies your commercial accounts will need. Consider the surfaces you need to clean, the types of areas you need to disinfect, the frequency of cleaning, and any specific requirements or regulations you need to follow. Determining the needs of your commercial space(s) first will help you identify the appropriate cleaning supplies and products.

2. Research Suppliers

Look for established, reputable suppliers that specialize in commercial cleaning products and offer a wide variety of cleaning products and supplies. Look for suppliers who can provide consistent and timely delivery of products. If you don’t know where to start, try checking online reviews or asking for recommendations from other franchise owners in your area.

3. Compare Prices

Once you’ve identified a few potential suppliers, it’s wise to compare pricing to ensure you’re getting a fair deal. Overpaying should of course be avoided, but keep in mind that the cheapest option may not always be the best quality; consider the effectiveness and longevity of the products to make an informed decision.

4. Try Before You Buy

It’s possible that the manufacturer you’re purchasing from will let you test the products before making a purchase. Definitely take advantage of this option if it’s available, especially when purchasing in bulk. This will help you determine if the product is effective and worth the investment.

5. Look for Eco-Friendly Options

Consider choosing eco-friendly cleaning products and supplies. Not only is this better for the planet, it can also be a selling point for your business. More and more companies are making an effort to be environmentally conscious, so using these sorts of products can be a real differentiator when bidding accounts.

6. Consider Buying in Bulk

Although it’s a higher cost upfront, buying your cleaning products in bulk will save you a significant amount of money in the long run. This is especially true if you have a large business or find yourself frequently needing to restock supplies.

7. Keep Track of Inventory

After selecting the right products and supplies for your cleaning franchise, maintaining a list of your cleaning products and supplies is a great way to stay organized. Closely monitoring the amount of products in stock will help you avoid the possibility of arriving at a customer’s facility empty handed.

8. Support local businesses

Consider purchasing cleaning products and supplies from local businesses or manufacturers. Not only does this support your local economy, but it can also provide an opportunity to discover unique, high-quality products that may not be available through larger retailers.

Conclusion

Overall, researching and selecting the right commercial cleaning products and supplies is crucial to maintaining a successful business. If you need more advice on sourcing items for your specific cleaning needs, Corvus has you covered.
